Benny
after years on a chain
Skaryszew · January–March 2026 · diaphragmatic hernia
Benny came under the foundation’s care in January 2026 following an administrative removal.
He had been kept on a chain all his life — he had never known walks, a soft bed
or a simple sense of safety. One day, shelter staff found him in his kennel,
lying among blood and vomit. He was immediately taken to a clinic.
The diagnosis was dramatic: a diaphragmatic hernia. Benny’s chest cavity contained
intestines and part of the liver, pressing on his lungs and heart. The operation lasted many hours
and carried enormous risk, but it was his only chance of survival.
Benny survived, left the shelter and began a new life with wonderful people.
PLN 2,700 was raised (100%) by 53 people. The operation was successful, and Benny was adopted on 16 March 2026.
